These giant bull figures have been a feature of the Spanish landscape for almost 70 years. There purpose is to advertise Osborne sherry and brandy.
Nowadays, they are not permitted to bear advertising, in case they distract motorists, but none is needed, because, after 70 years, Spanish people know well enough what is being advertised!

Out there is where the great sea battle was fought in October 1805
And just behind this point stands the ruin of another Moorish watchtower. It was demolished to provide building materials for the lighthouse, but eyes must surely have been watching from it on that fateful day in history.
